Keoni joined the RAMSIS lab as an undergraduate in January 2019. The goal of his research is to improve the reliability and resilience of power systems against aging and extreme events. He has been integrating time-dependent wind fragility models, network response models, and risk-based maintenance strategies to find an optimal pole maintenance strategy for distribution systems affected by hurricanes. He has also been researching methods for predicting the time-dependent rate of corrosion and associated loss of strength in the components of steel lattice transmission line towers. His research is sponsored by an REU from the National Science Foundation and an Undergraduate Research Scholarship from Ohio State. He will be receiving his B.S. in Civil Engineering with Honors Research Distinction and a minor in Nuclear Engineering in May 2020.
